St. Louis CITY SC advanced to the U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 after defeating FC Tulsa 4-0 at Energizer Park on April 16.

The victory means St. Louis will continue its run in the tournament, next facing Chicago Fire on the road in the upcoming round, with match details to be announced later.

Marcel Hartel scored first for CITY SC in the 20th minute, followed by Sangbin Jeong’s header in the 36th minute, marking Jeong’s first goal across all competitions this season and his second career goal in U.S. Open Cup play. Roman Bürki provided his first career assist in U.S. Open Cup action on Jeong’s goal and also earned his first clean sheet of both this season and tournament play.

In the second half, Mykhi Joyner extended St. Louis’ lead with a free kick goal in the 61st minute—his first across all competitions this year—and Tomás Ostrák added another from outside the box in the 78th minute, also his first of the season and tournament.

CITY SC outshot Tulsa by a margin of 22 to 12 and is now unbeaten for four consecutive matches across all competitions as it returns to Major League Soccer play against Seattle Sounders on Saturday, April 18 at Lumen Field.

The match saw several players achieve personal milestones: Tomas Totland registered his first assist of both season and cup competition; Dante Polvara picked up his first assist of any competition this year; while substitutions throughout kept fresh legs on for St. Louis as they secured their place among sixteen remaining teams.
