St. Louis CITY SC advanced to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open Cup after defeating Chicago Fire FC 2-1 at SeatGeek Stadium on April 29.
The victory marks the first time St. Louis CITY SC has reached this stage in the tournament, highlighting a milestone for the club.
After a scoreless first half, Anton Salétros gave Chicago Fire FC the lead in the 64th minute with a header from inside the box. St. Louis responded quickly as Tomas Totland scored his first career U.S. Open Cup goal in the 71st minute, followed by Eduard Löwen’s right-footed shot in the 78th minute, also his first goal in this competition and second across all competitions this year.
Mykhi Joyner contributed his first assist of 2026 on Löwen’s goal, and St. Louis achieved its first-ever road win against Chicago Fire FC in club history.
The date, time, and opponent for St. Louis CITY SC’s quarterfinal match will be determined by a draw scheduled for Thursday, April 30.
Looking ahead, St. Louis returns to Major League Soccer play on Sunday, May 3 against Austin FC at Q2 Stadium.
