St. Louis leaders celebrated the completion of construction on 7th Street, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing development of Downtown St. Louis. The project, located between Ballpark Village and Washington Avenue, was inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday.

The initiative features several enhancements including new protected bicycle-pedestrian lanes, additional trees and lighting, repaving from Walnut to Washington, as well as improvements to sidewalks and crosswalks. These upgrades aim to create a safer and more aesthetically pleasing connection between key downtown areas such as Busch Stadium/Ballpark Village and Washington Avenue/the America’s Center.

Kurt Weigle, Chief Downtown Officer at Greater St. Louis, Inc., emphasized the importance of these developments for the city’s revitalization efforts. “We know that truly revitalizing Downtown won’t happen overnight,” he stated. “But this project – when coupled with the establishment of the new Downtown Entertainment District, the Public Safety Ambassadors, the Millennium development, and new activations and events – are all proof points that we are well on our way.”
