The St. Louis Blues announced on Apr. 17 that the contracts of assistant coaches Claude Julien and Mike Weber will not be renewed, according to Doug Armstrong, President of Hockey Operations and General Manager.
The decision marks a shift in the coaching staff as the team looks to move forward with new leadership. Armstrong said, “I would like to thank Claude and Mike for their contributions during their time with the organization. With their contracts set to expire this summer, we wanted to give them the opportunity to move on to the next chapter of their coaching careers while we work to building a coaching staff that is best suited to lead our team moving forward.”
Julien joined the Blues as an assistant coach in 2024 and helped guide the team to an 81-63-20 regular-season record along with a postseason appearance in 2025. He has more than two decades of coaching experience, including head coaching roles with Montreal from 2002-06 and again from 2016-21, New Jersey from 2006-07, and Boston from 2008-17.
Weber became an assistant coach for St. Louis in summer 2023. During his tenure, the Blues recorded a regular-season record of 124-96-26 and reached the postseason in 2025. Before joining St. Louis, Weber served as an assistant coach with Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League from 2020-23 and Windsor Spitfires in Ontario Hockey League from 2018-20.
The changes come as part of broader efforts by management to assemble a new coaching staff ahead of upcoming seasons.
