Sporting Kansas City will play the Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place on April 17, with kickoff scheduled for 9:30 p.m. Central Time. The match will be available for streaming on Apple TV and broadcast locally via Sports Radio 810 WHB and La Grande 1340 AM.

The game marks a return to Major League Soccer regular-season action for Sporting Kansas City, following their elimination from the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup earlier in the week. The team now shifts its focus entirely to league play as it prepares to face the current Supporters’ Shield leaders.

Vancouver has started the season strongly, leading Major League Soccer in goals scored and expected goals while conceding among the fewest expected goals against. Sporting has struggled recently against Vancouver, losing their last four meetings and securing only one win in their past nine encounters since 2021. Last season’s matches saw Sporting fall by scores of 3-0 and 2-0.

This year also sees Sporting fielding one of the youngest squads in MLS under President of Soccer Operations David Lee and head coach Raphael Wicky. With an average age of just under 24 years old, only Red Bull New York has a younger roster this season.

Looking ahead, Sporting Park is set to host “Soccer Capital Summer,” a series of fan events coinciding with FIFA World Cup festivities in June and July. These events include watch parties for over twenty World Cup matches, concerts, local vendors, and other programming aimed at engaging fans throughout Kansas City.

In addition, Sporting Club co-owner Cliff Illig and former player Matt Besler are scheduled for induction into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame during a ceremony at Sporting Park on August 16.
