The Saint Louis Science Center is set to host Sci-FEAST, an event exploring the science behind food production and consumption. Sponsored by Nestlé Purina PetCare Company, the expo will delve into the STEM aspects of food.
“The science of food is fascinating,” said Ruth Watt, manager of STEM Events for the Science Center. “Its impact is personal, cultural and global. At Sci-FEAST, we’ll feature activities and presentations related to agriculture, health, food preparation, animal and pet nutrition, and more. We’ll look at the process that brings food products from farm to table all over the world — and even into space — to discover how that can impact each of us every day.”
Sci-FEAST will take place on Saturday, November 9th from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The free event will offer insights into how food intersects with nutrition, health, and STEM fields through interactions with over 150 experts in various disciplines.
Among the highlights are a discussion on pet nutrition basics by Dr. Jordan Wood from Nestlé Purina PetCare Company; a Global Food Science Experience featuring students from Washington University in St. Louis’ McDonnell International Scholars Academy; cooking demonstrations by SSA Executive Chef Kore Wilbert; a presentation on botanicals used in beverages by local distiller StilL 630; along with hands-on activities throughout the venue.
This event is part of the Science Center’s SciFest series which aims to connect people with STEM professionals through free expos held annually.
