The Saint Louis Science Center is gearing up for its annual Science Spooktacular, a Halloween-themed event offering a mix of free and paid activities from October 25-27. This event aims to blend science with the festive spirit of Halloween, providing an array of experiences suitable for all ages.
Doug Stanze, Director of Guest Services for the Science Center, stated, “The Science Center’s annual Science Spooktacular is packed with fun, family-friendly activities. Throughout the weekend, guests will encounter eerie experiences that help them better understand the reality behind Halloween’s mysteries. To add to the enjoyment, this year we’re introducing special events focused on various age groups.”
Visitors can explore different galleries at no cost and participate in several activities such as science demonstrations and spooky stories at the Energy Stage on the Lower Level. Daily pumpkin carving and magic show presentations are also part of the lineup. The OMNIMAX® Theater will screen films appropriate for all ages: “Soul” on Friday at 6 p.m., “Coco” on Saturday at 6 p.m., and “Encanto” on Sunday at 3 p.m.
Other interactive experiences include creepy crawlies in the Life Sciences gallery, freaky fungi in the GROW gallery, hands-on crafts in Makerspace gallery on the Second Level, Halloween-themed play in GameXPloration gallery, ghastly engineering projects in Dream It. Build It. exhibit on the Second Level, solar telescope viewing at James S. McDonnell Planetarium (Sunday only), a daily costume parade, and themed food and drinks at “The Loft” on the Second Level.
For those interested in exclusive paid events tailored to specific age groups:
– Let the Ghoul Times Roll Trivia starts at 6 p.m. on Friday for guests aged 21 and older. Costumes are encouraged with prizes awarded for highest scores and best costumes. Tickets are $40 per person.
– Jack-o’-Lantern Jamboree begins at 5 p.m. on Saturday for families with children aged 7-13 featuring a buffet dinner and private magic show among other activities.
– Boo Bash Brunch kicks off at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday catering to families with kids aged six and under offering breakfast buffet along with entertainment.
