Cass Regional Medical Center announced on May 1 the election of Rebecca Christensen to its Board of Trustees. Christensen was elected in April and will serve a five-year term, succeeding Toni Wiseman, who completed two full terms and ten years of service.

Christensen is a lifelong resident of Harrisonville and brings both community ties and clinical experience to her new position. She lives in Harrisonville with her husband, Ben Yoder, and has family connections to local small businesses. Her background includes work in nursing homes, hospice care, dementia care, medical offices, and medical-surgical units since beginning her healthcare career in 2003.

“I have always had a strong desire to advocate for people, and serving on the Board felt like an opportunity to take that passion beyond the bedside,” said Christensen. “Cass Regional has always stood out to me—not just for its beautiful facility, but for the incredible staff and the level of care they provide. Being part of something that serves my own community in that way is truly meaningful.”

Christensen became a nurse in 2018 after working as a CNA, CMT, LPN, and RN before earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She is currently completing her master’s degree in nursing leadership and management.

In her new role as Trustee, Christensen said she looks forward to bringing frontline clinical insight into leadership discussions: “As I step into this role, my priority is to listen and learn,” she said. “I want to contribute in a way that supports thoughtful, fair decisions that are truly in the best interest of our community. I believe healthcare leadership should be guided by both purpose and integrity, and I am honored to be part of that work.” Cass Regional thanked Wiseman for her decade-long service while expressing anticipation for Christensen’s contributions.
