Northwest Missouri State University reports record-breaking results for annual giving campaign

Northwest Missouri State University announced on April 28 that its sixth annual Bearcat Day of Green giving campaign set a new fundraising record, collecting $219,713 from 417 donors during a span of 1,905 minutes.

The university said the amount raised increased by nearly 17 percent compared to last year’s previous record of $188,384. The campaign focused on funding initiatives such as academic support, scholarships and student life. Department-specific scholarships received the highest total contributions at $82,615. All 41 challenges associated with the event were met by donors.

Mike Johnson, vice president of university advancement and executive director of the Northwest Foundation, said: “It’s most gratifying to work with such generous people who collaborate across campus to yield record amounts of support for our students, faculty and staff. This effort allowed our team to challenge Bearcat believers to amass nearly $220,000 over 1,905 minutes. Combined with our academic and athletic partners, we collectively raised over $400,000 in FY26 during our and Day of Green giving days.”

The Office of University Advancement and the Northwest Foundation organize this annual campaign to develop philanthropic resources benefiting students and faculty. The Foundation also facilitated the creation of new scholarships in the last fiscal year and distributed nearly $1.54 million through 1,577 scholarship awards.
