Northwest Missouri State University announced on April 29 that it will begin a partnership with Elior Collegiate Dining to provide dining services on campus starting in May.

The decision comes after the university’s Board of Regents authorized leadership to execute a contract with Elior following a competitive review process. The university said this move is intended to enhance the dining experience for students, employees, and visitors.

Elior is expected to start operating campus dining locations on May 15. According to the university, the new options will focus on quality, variety, value, and responsiveness to campus needs. Dr. Rose Viau, Northwest’s assistant vice president of student affairs for residential and auxiliary services, said, “Among the four dining contractors interviewed, Elior Collegiate Dining distinguished itself through a creative, student-first approach. Their presentation highlighted a commitment to high-quality standards and a promise to evolve alongside each new class to ensure a consistently excellent dining experience.”

Planned changes include retail options inside the J.W. Jones Student Union featuring chicken dishes, Mexican cuisine, and a rotating choice selected monthly by student vote—possibilities range from Italian food and barbecue to sushi. The Station facility will offer American foods such as burgers and wings. This transition follows Sodexo Operations LLC notifying Northwest of its intent to end its contract at the close of the spring semester.

Northwest Missouri State University enrolls over 8,500 students and maintains a 16:1 student-to-faculty ratio according to its official website. The institution promotes engagement through more than 150 clubs and organizations that enhance cultural and social experiences according to its official website. Facilities at Northwest include Bearcat Arena according to its official website, supporting both athletics and other activities.

The university has achieved national rankings and includes award-winning faculty according to its official website. Its stated aim is delivering nationally recognized education paired with practical experience for strong value according to its official website.
