NKC Health announced on Apr. 15 that it has earned Silver Milestone Recognition from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) for maintaining echocardiography accreditation for 25 years.

The recognition highlights NKC Health’s long-term commitment to improving patient outcomes and safety in cardiovascular care. Accredited facilities like NKC Health undergo a rigorous reaccreditation process every three years, which is conducted by a panel of medical experts.

“We are honored to receive this significant achievement for having the echocardiography accreditation for 25 years,” said Steven Starr, MD, FACC, chief medical officer of NKC Health. “The Silver Milestone Recognition from IAC stands as a testament to the dedication of our teams who strive each day to provide the highest standards of cardiovascular care for our community.”

Echocardiography is used to evaluate different areas of the heart and can detect heart disease and other serious cardiovascular conditions. The IAC’s assessment covers all aspects contributing to positive patient outcomes, including sonographer performance, equipment quality, and required metrics. Mayo Clinic researchers have found that labs with IAC accreditation take more accurate measurements for aortic valve problems and produce clearer images that help doctors make better decisions about patient care.

In 2026, NKC Health was one of only 83 accredited facilities nationwide that qualified for the IAC’s 25-Year Silver Accreditation Milestone. The organization describes the IAC seal as the gold standard in echocardiography accreditation.

Looking ahead, NKC Health says it will continue its focus on providing high-level patient care through ongoing innovation and comprehensive services.
