NFIB recently held a retreat in Camdenton, Missouri, bringing together small business owners and industry leaders from across the state. The gathering focused on legislative issues affecting small businesses, including Proposition A and ongoing efforts by the Legislature to address related proposals.
During the event, attendees were briefed on recent federal legislative developments. Updates included NFIB’s work to make the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent and its campaign to repeal Beneficial Ownership Information reporting requirements. Participants also met with Majority Floor Leader Rep. Alex Riley (R-District 134) and listened to remarks from Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-Missouri).
Sen. Schmitt addressed attendees via video message, stating: “With strong, pro-small business policies from the White House and Congress, our economy is roaring, and businesses are reaping the benefits. Wages are up, taxes are lower,” he said. “At the heart of this comeback is President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill, his bold, pro-growth package that puts small businesses and American workers back in the center of our economy, where they belong.”
After the retreat concluded, NFIB State Director Brad Jones commented on members’ advocacy efforts: “Our members’ advocacy makes a big difference, whether we’re working to advance pro-small business reforms or stop anti-growth legislation. Main Street is the foundation of our economy, and we will continue fighting on their behalf in Jefferson City and Washington, D.C.”
NFIB encouraged participants to maintain communication with lawmakers about issues impacting small businesses.
