Twenty athletes from the Monett High School Football Team joined several community organizations on April 30 to begin Project Cub, a series of community service activities. The students worked alongside the Monett Fire Department, members of the community, and the Monett Historical Society on a range of tasks.
The event focused on supporting local needs and encouraging teamwork among students. Participants painted 30 fire hydrants near Monett School in purple and gold, moved 20 trash cans from Broadway to the Monett Dog Park property for repainting, and cleaned seats in the auditorium at Monett City Hall.
In addition to these efforts, football players helped members of the Monett Historical Society move large items in the museum. They also assisted 3-D Corporate Solutions with moving furniture and supported three residents by moving items to curbs for citywide clean-up while clearing large tree limbs from properties.
“This was a great success and an opportunity to show these young men that it’s about more than football—it’s about hard work, teamwork, and giving back to our community,” said Monett Deputy Fire Chief Dustin Stellwagen, who also serves as a team coach. “It also provided a chance for them to bond while making a positive impact.”
The football team plans additional Project Cub service days later this summer.
