The University of Missouri women’s tennis team ended its season on April 15 after a 4-0 defeat to No. 15 Louisiana State University in the first round of the Southeastern Conference Championship.

The match took place in Norman, Oklahoma, where LSU secured the doubles point by winning two out of three matches. Freshmen Lara Quaglia and Alex Ackman lost their match on court three with a score of 6-1, while sophomores Gian Octa and Zoe Lazar were defeated 6-2 on court one. The pairing of senior Andrea Artimedi and sophomore Korina Roso had just won a set but did not finish their match as LSU clinched the doubles point.

In singles play, Lazar was the first to finish after retiring in her second set. Roso then fell to her opponent with scores of 6-0 and 6-3. The deciding point came when Quaglia lost her singles match following a close first set that ended with scores of 6-4 and 6-1. Other matches involving Artimedi, Ackman, and Octa went unfinished as LSU reached four points.

The results mark the end of Mizzou’s tennis season at this year’s conference championship event.
