The Missouri Tigers baseball team will travel to Cape Girardeau for a game against Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) on Tuesday, April 28 at 6 p.m. Central Time, according to an announcement on Apr. 27. The matchup will take place at Capaha Field and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
This contest is significant as the Tigers look to build momentum following their recent victory over No. 24 Arkansas, while SEMO stands tied atop the Ohio Valley Conference standings and holds a strong national ranking in RPI.
Mizzou enters the game with a record of 21-23 overall and a Southeastern Conference mark of 4-17. In their last outing, right-handed pitcher Keyler Gonzalez delivered five scoreless innings, helping secure a win against Arkansas. Offensively, Pierre Seals hit a two-run home run and Eric Maisonet added another solo shot for the Tigers.
SEMO brings an overall record of 31-13 and is currently tied for first place in its conference with a league mark of 12-6. The Redhawks recently won two out of three games against SIUE and rank No. 56 nationally in RPI as reported by the program’s statistics update.
Tuesday’s meeting marks the forty-first all-time between these teams, with Missouri leading the series history at twenty-five wins to fifteen losses; however, SEMO claimed victory in their most recent encounter earlier this year.
The game is also notable for several individual performances this season: sophomore pitcher Brady Kehlenbrink has posted multiple double-digit strikeout games without issuing walks or earned runs; freshman infielder Blaize Ward was named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week after batting .615 during one week; transfer Jase Woita leads Mizzou with ten home runs and forty-two runs batted in so far this year.
Looking ahead, both teams are seeking key wins as they approach crucial stretches of their respective conference schedules.
