Missouri State University Lady Bears softball team lost 10-2 in five innings to Kansas City on April 21 in their final midweek matchup of the season.

The game began with Missouri State taking an early lead, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. Riley Baber drew a walk, followed by a Kansas City error and a single from Lauren Rowland to load the bases. Halle Studer was hit by a pitch, bringing home the first run, and Alexis Perales added another with a sacrifice fly. However, Rowland was thrown out trying to tag up, ending the inning.

Kansas City tied the game at 2-2 with a two-out double in the second inning and then took control in the third. A Missouri State error allowed Kansas City to take its first lead at 3-2. The Roos then loaded the bases and scored five more runs after another Bears error, increasing their advantage to 8-2.

Both teams were scoreless in the fourth inning before Kansas City ended the contest early with two more runs in the fifth. Missouri State’s offense was limited throughout; Studer and Perales drove in both of their team’s runs while Rowland and Emily Gerardy recorded hits for Missouri State. The Bears drew three walks but struck out only once during play.

Looking ahead, Missouri State will travel for a three-game Conference USA series at UTEP from April 24 through April 26. All games are scheduled to stream on ESPN+.
