Missouri State softball lost 12-11 to Jacksonville State in a high-scoring series finale on April 19 at Killian Stadium.

The close game followed what was described as the Bears’ worst loss in program history, but the team showed resilience by responding with a strong offensive performance. The matchup saw multiple lead changes and significant scoring from both teams.

Jacksonville State started quickly, scoring three runs in the first inning. Missouri State answered immediately with Halle Studer hitting a three-run home run to tie the game. In the second inning, Kayla Ulrich added another three-run homer for Missouri State, helping her team take a 7-4 lead after two innings. Studer continued her standout day with a solo home run in the third inning, bringing her total to five runs batted in for the afternoon.

Despite building an early advantage, Missouri State could not hold off Jacksonville State’s comeback. The Gamecocks narrowed the gap throughout the later innings and scored three runs in the seventh to take their first lead since early in the game. With two outs and bases loaded, Jacksonville State delivered a two-RBI single that proved decisive.

Studer finished as Missouri State’s top performer with two hits and five RBI. Ulrich contributed three RBI from her home run, while Alexis Perales drove in two more runs for Missouri State. The Bears managed ten two-out RBI during the contest and had their leadoff batter reach base five times out of seven innings played.

Looking ahead, Missouri State will travel next week for games against Kansas City on April 21 and UTEP from April 24 through April 26.
