Missouri State softball defeated New Mexico State 4-0 at Killian Stadium on April 30 in the opening game of their series.

The victory was highlighted by freshman pitcher Emily Koranda, who threw a complete game shutout and earned her twelfth win of the season. Koranda allowed only three hits and struck out four batters, bringing her season total to ninety-nine strikeouts.

All four runs for Missouri State came during the fifth inning. Senior Sidney McLaughlin started the rally with a single, followed by Emily Gerardy reaching base on an error. After Gerardy stole second, Sofia King hit an RBI single to break the scoreless tie. A throwing error by New Mexico State allowed another run to score before Mya January hit a two-run home run to center field, giving Missouri State a comfortable lead.

Koranda received strong defensive support from her teammates, including two double plays that helped keep New Mexico State off the scoreboard. McLaughlin led Missouri State’s offense with three hits in three at-bats, while January drove in two runs.

The teams are scheduled to play again tomorrow at Killian Stadium with first pitch set for 3:00 p.m. The game will be available for streaming on ESPN+.
