The University of Missouri announced on Apr. 15 that its scheduled road baseball game against Missouri State has been canceled because of expected thunderstorms and a tornado watch in Springfield. The university said the game will not be rescheduled.

The cancellation is due to concerns about player and spectator safety, as persistent thunderstorms and tornado conditions are forecast for the area. Such weather events can create hazardous conditions, making it unsafe for outdoor sports events.

Following this cancellation, the Missouri Tigers (20-17, 3-12 Southeastern Conference) will travel to Norman, Oklahoma, for a three-game conference series against the No. 16 ranked Oklahoma Sooners (24-12, 7-8 SEC). The series at Kimrey Family Stadium is set to begin Friday night at 6:30 p.m. Central Time and will continue through Sunday. All games in the series will be streamed live on SEC Network+.

Fans who wish to follow Mizzou baseball games can listen via audio stream on The Varsity Network app by Learfield. Broadcasts feature longtime play-by-play announcer Tex Little with Matt Michaels providing color commentary.

The impact of inclement weather continues to affect collegiate athletics schedules across the region this spring. Teams are adapting by rescheduling or canceling games as needed when severe weather threatens safety.
