The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team won its series finale against the University of Indianapolis 10-7 in 10 innings on April 19 at Bill Bright Field at Greyhound Park in Indianapolis. The victory allowed the Tritons to take three out of four games in the series, improving their record to 23-18 overall and 17-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while the Greyhounds dropped to 24-18 overall and 15-9 in conference play.

The game saw multiple lead changes and ties throughout, with UMSL capitalizing early on a two-out error by Luke Smock that allowed three runs to score in the first inning. The Greyhounds responded with back-to-back RBI doubles from Chase Mason and Brayton Bowen, narrowing the gap to one run before tying it up again with an RBI double from Austin Bode.

UMSL regained leads several times during the contest, including a go-ahead run scored by Owen Faith following an error in the fifth inning. However, each time, Indianapolis managed to even up the score—most notably forcing extra innings after a two-run triple tied things at seven apiece late in regulation.

In extra innings, UMSL broke through with three runs on two hits and two walks. LJ Randle delivered a single that put his team ahead for good, followed by Justin Terhaar’s two-run single which provided insurance runs. Dustin Hagens pitched effectively out of relief for UMSL, retiring all batters he faced over his outing—including setting down Indy’s lineup consecutively in the bottom of the tenth—to secure his second win of the weekend and improve his season record to 3-1.

Randle led UMSL offensively with three hits while Justin Simard contributed two more as part of their nine-hit performance. The Tritons are scheduled to return for nonconference action against Division I Lindenwood on Wednesday at Lou Brock Sports Complex.
