The Missouri Farm Bureau Political Action Committee endorsed Congressman Jason Smith for reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives in Missouri’s Eighth Congressional District, according to an announcement on Apr. 23. The endorsement came after trustees of the MOFB PAC Southeast Regional Endorsement Committee voted in support of Smith’s candidacy.
This endorsement is significant because the Missouri Farm Bureau includes more than 157,000 member families across all 114 counties in the state, according to the official website. The organization acts as a leading supporter of agriculture and rural communities while representing Missourians statewide.
Leon Michel, chairman of the MOFB PAC’s Southeast Regional Endorsement Committee, said, “Chairman Smith has proven himself to be a powerful advocate for agriculture and rural America. As chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, he is leading on critical issues like tax and trade policy that directly impact Missouri farm families. His strong agricultural background and commitment to our members make him an effective voice for our state in Congress.”
Smith was first elected to Congress in 2013 and has focused on policies that strengthen farm operations, expand market access, and support rural communities. He previously served in the Missouri House of Representatives and has received recognition such as the American Farm Bureau Federation’s “Friend of Farm Bureau” award after each completed term.
A seventh-generation Missourian and fourth-generation family farm owner, Smith received the MOFB Outstanding Service to Agriculture award in 2022 and served as president of the Salem FFA Association earlier in his career.
Missouri Farm Bureau maintains local offices throughout all counties via local organizations according to its official website. The group fosters agricultural education through scholarships and supports community advocacy efforts across Missouri.
The broader impact highlights how organizations like Missouri Farm Bureau operate as advocates focused on agriculture and rural interests statewide according to its official website.
