Missouri baseball lost to No. 14 Oklahoma, 4-0, on April 18 in the second game of a three-game Southeastern Conference series at Kimrey Family Stadium in Norman. Sophomore pitcher Brady Kehlenbrink struck out ten batters over six innings for Missouri but did not receive run support from his team’s offense.

The outcome is significant as it gives Oklahoma both the win and the series victory over Missouri. The Sooners improved their record to 26-12 overall and 9-8 in conference play, while Missouri dropped to 20-19 overall and 3-14 in the SEC.

Oklahoma scored first with a solo home run by Deiten LaChance in the second inning. The Sooners added two more runs in the third inning before Kehlenbrink ended the threat. In the fourth inning, Jaxon Willits hit a two-out double that increased Oklahoma’s lead to four runs. After that point, both teams’ pitchers controlled much of the game.

Kehlenbrink completed six innings, allowing four runs on eight hits with two walks and achieving double-digit strikeouts for his second consecutive outing. He has now recorded at least eight strikeouts in five of his ten starts this season. Trey Lawrence relieved Kehlenbrink and pitched two scoreless innings with three strikeouts for Missouri.

Offensively, Missouri managed only two hits—the fewest they have had all season—against Oklahoma’s pitching staff led by starter Cameron Johnson and relievers Jason Bodin and Jackson Cleveland. Catcher Mateo Serna singled off Johnson after an eleven-pitch at-bat and also walked once during the game; shortstop Kam Durnin contributed a single and drew a walk as well.

Missouri will return to Kimrey Family Stadium on Sunday afternoon for the final game of their series against Oklahoma. Left-handed pitcher Javyn Pimental is scheduled to make his first start since March.
