MFA Incorporated announced on April 16 that it has reached an agreement to purchase four grain elevators in Missouri from ADM, expanding its network and market access for member-owners.

The acquisition is significant for local farmers, as it will add about 6 million bushels of licensed grain storage capacity across facilities in Montgomery City, Center, Novelty, and Shelbina. These locations are situated in key grain-producing areas and will be integrated into MFA’s existing system once the transaction closes.

“Grain origination is a core service that MFA provides to our members,” said Jason Weirich, Chief Operations Officer at MFA. “By bringing these facilities into our cooperative system, we’re expanding access to delivery points and improving our grain handling logistics. These assets will help maintain competitive markets for the grain our members grow and deliver growers the benefits available by marketing through a cooperative.” Weirich also said that current contracts at these sites would be honored subject to standard reviews and terms. He added: “These facilities are well‑positioned to serve growers in their local trade areas. Our goal is to keep grain moving efficiently and provide dependable service our members.” The transaction is expected to close by late summer 2026 after customary due diligence.

Weirich further stated that MFA remains committed to supporting communities where the new elevators are located: “We view this as a long‑term investment in local agriculture and the rural communities where they’re located.”

The deal was approved by MFA’s Board of Directors as part of its ongoing strategy focused on infrastructure investments directly benefiting producers. “As a cooperative, every capital decision we make is evaluated through the lens of member value,” said Bob Huffman, President and CEO of MFA Incorporated. “This investment strengthens our grain system and reinforces MFA’s mission of being owned by farmers, for farmers.”

MFA supports profitable and sustainable farming practices with the goal of strengthening rural communities according to the official website. It operates as a farmer-owned cooperative according to the official website serving more than 45,000 farmer-owners according to the official website. The organization aims to deliver economic benefits through collective purchasing and sales according to the official website, under governance provided by a board of 14 elected farmers who represent owners’ interests according to the official website. Its services extend across Missouri and neighboring Midwest states according to the official website.

Founded in 1914, MFA offers agronomy services, livestock nutrition solutions, farm supplies, and grain marketing while focusing on community development initiatives according to the official website.
