The Division of Student Affairs announced on Apr. 17 that Lucianie Pierre has been selected as Lincoln University of Missouri’s Student Leader of the Month for March. Pierre, a second-semester freshman majoring in nursing, was recognized for her leadership and dedication to enhancing student life.

This recognition highlights the university’s commitment to fostering leadership among its diverse student body, which includes individuals from across the nation and around the world, according to the official website.

Pierre, known as “Lucy” or “Lulu,” is originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She maintains a 3.4 GPA while serving as Supervisor for the Blue Tiger Den and running her own business. She is also noted for being the second youngest of seven siblings and credits her older sister—a military role model—for shaping her motivation and purpose.

Pierre said her faith guides her approach to leadership: “One verse in particular guides her: Matthew 5:44, ‘Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.’ It is a principle she returns to when challenges arise, a reminder to lead with compassion and to meet difficulty with resilience rather than resistance.”

The Student Government Association Advisors select Student Leaders of the Month based on excellence in one or more areas such as modeling high standards, inspiring shared vision, challenging processes constructively, enabling others through collaboration, and recognizing achievements. The university offers more than 50 undergraduate and master’s programs according to its official website.

Lincoln University Cooperative Extension focuses on educating students while fostering community development through its programs according to its official website. The institution also features competitive Division II athletics and hosts the Marching Musical Storm according to university information.

Lincoln University Cooperative Extension is distinguished as the only historically Black college established by formerly enslaved Black soldiers according to university history.

As Pierre continues balancing academics with entrepreneurship and campus involvement, she represents what officials describe as exemplary leadership within Lincoln University’s Blue Tiger community.
