Sporting Kansas City Academy and Sporting KC II forward Kashan Hines was named MLS NEXT Rising Star of Matchday 7 on April 20 after scoring the winning goal in SKC II’s victory over Whitecaps FC 2 at Victory Field.

The recognition highlights Hines’ contribution to his team’s first win of the season. He entered the match as a substitute in the 62nd minute and scored his first professional goal late in stoppage time, securing all three points for Sporting KC II.

During the match, SKC II came from behind twice. After falling behind early in the second half, Missael Rodriguez equalized before Vancouver regained the lead. Zamir Loyo Reynaga then leveled the score again with his first professional goal before Hines netted the decisive strike seven minutes into second-half stoppage time.

Hines, who is 17 years old, joined Sporting Kansas City Academy in spring 2023 and has played at various youth levels for the club. He made his professional debut as a substitute on August 8, 2025, against Austin FC II and has started three times for SKC II this season.

Sporting KC II will continue their four-match home stand on Sunday when they face Houston Dynamo 2 at Victory Field. The game will be available to stream on OneFootball app and tickets are available through SeatGeek.com.
