A Honduran national admitted on Dec. 19 to possessing firearms and cocaine after nearly hitting a family in a crosswalk in St. Ann, Missouri.
Esmin Guzman-Euceda, age 21 and living in Woodson Terrace, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in St. Louis to one count of possessing a firearm as an illegal alien. According to court documents, on July 7, 2024, officers from the St. Ann Police Department saw Guzman-Euceda speeding through a pedestrian crossing zone and almost striking a family with an infant stroller.
After being stopped by police, Guzman-Euceda was found without a valid driver’s license and was arrested at the scene. Officers reported finding $1,208 on his person along with two baggies of cocaine inside his vehicle. A rifle and pistol were also discovered during the search; both firearms had been previously reported stolen.
Guzman-Euceda told officers that he did not know the guns were stolen when he purchased them but admitted that he knew his immigration status prohibited him from lawfully possessing firearms.
The charge carries a potential penalty of up to 15 years in prison, a $250,000 fine or both imprisonment and fine upon conviction. Sentencing is scheduled for July 2.
The case was investigated by the St. Ann Police Department and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations unit while Assistant U.S. Attorney Phillip Voss is prosecuting.
