Emily Koranda named to Conference USA All-Freshman Team

Missouri State University’s Emily Koranda was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team, the league announced on May 5.

Koranda’s selection highlights her strong performance during her freshman season. She finished with a 2.76 earned run average and a 13-14 record as a pitcher. Over the course of the season, she pitched 160 innings, recorded 11 complete games, four shutouts, and two saves.

In conference play, Koranda contributed seven of Missouri State’s ten wins and struck out 55 batters with a conference earned run average of 3.52. Her total of 104 strikeouts was the highest by a Missouri State pitcher since Steffany Dickerson in 2022 and set a new mark for Bears freshmen since Erin Struemph in 2014.

Nationally among NCAA Division I freshmen this season, Koranda ranked thirteenth in wins, eighteenth in strikeouts among those with at least one hundred strikeouts, and twenty-second in earned run average. She also placed thirty-fourth nationally in innings pitched and thirty-sixth in shutouts across all players.

Within Conference USA this year, she ranked third in innings pitched, fourth in earned run average, sixth in wins and eighth in strikeouts. During the season she received two CUSA Freshman of the Week awards as well as one CUSA Pitcher of the Week honor.

Koranda is from Marion, Iowa.
