The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri and the Federal Public Defender Offices of the Eastern District of Missouri and the Southern District of Illinois announced on Apr. 16 that registration is now open for the Criminal Justice Act (CJA) Seminar, scheduled for May 14, 2026, at the Thomas F. Eagleton Courthouse.

The seminar is important as it provides required training for CJA Panel and Mentee Panel Attorneys who handle federal criminal cases. This event aims to ensure attorneys are up-to-date with procedures and best practices relevant to federal criminal law.

According to organizers, attendance at this training is mandatory for all CJA Panel and Mentee Panel Attorneys. Other attorneys practicing in federal criminal law may also register if space remains after slots are filled by CJA Panel, Mentee Panel, and Federal Public Defender participants.

Doors will open at 8:30 a.m., with welcome remarks starting at 9:00 a.m. Organizers ask attendees to arrive on time to avoid delays or disruptions during the program. There is no cost to attend, and lunch will be provided to pre-registered attorneys.

Advanced registration can be completed by emailing MOED_RSVP@moed.uscourts.gov no later than May 4, 2026. Registrants should include their full name and firm or agency information when signing up.

For further details about the seminar or registration process, interested parties can contact Betty Ann Skrien at Betty_Ann_Skrien@moed.uscourts.gov.
