The Central Missouri Jennies won both games of a doubleheader against the Missouri-St. Louis Tritons on April 21, taking victories by scores of 7-5 and 8-2 at UMSL Softball Field in St. Louis.
These wins bring the Jennies’ season record to 31-15 overall and 12-8 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA). The team will continue conference play on Saturday, April 25, with a doubleheader against Nebraska-Kearney during Senior Day at Jennies Field in Warrensburg.
In the first game, Central Missouri took an early lead with an RBI single from Bailey Brumley and a two-run home run by Aly Hageman. Brumley added another RBI double in the second inning, while Taylor Thompson contributed an RBI single to make it 6-1. Hageman later hit an RBI double in the seventh inning to help secure the win. Brumley earned her tenth pitching victory of the season with seven strikeouts, and Andi Siebeneck recorded her second save.
The second game saw Thompson hit her team-leading sixteenth home run of the year to start scoring for Central Missouri. The team extended its lead with five runs in the second inning through contributions from Jadyn Sheffield, Kyrsten Moran, and Brumley. Hageman drove in another run in the seventh before UMSL scored twice late. Siebeneck picked up her twelfth win as pitcher for Central Missouri.
Thompson, Moran, and Hageman each had two hits in game two to pace their team’s offense.
