The Central Missouri Jennies softball team was included on Apr. 22 in the first NCAA Division II Central Regional Rankings of the season, according to an announcement from the NCAA. The initial rankings are presented in alphabetical order and mark the first time since 2021 that the Jennies have appeared in a regional poll.
This recognition highlights a significant achievement for the program, as only ten teams were selected for this list. The Jennies are among six teams from the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) named in these initial rankings for 2026. Other MIAA schools featured include Central Oklahoma, Emporia State, Missouri Southern, Northwest Missouri, Pittsburg State, and Rogers State.
The NCAA’s Central Region consists of programs from three conferences: MIAA, Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), and Great American Conference (GAC). St. Cloud State and Winona State represent NSIC schools on this list, while Southern Arkansas is noted as the sole GAC representative.
Several teams within this region also hold spots in national polls. According to recent National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) rankings, five teams from the Central Region are ranked among the top-25 nationally: No. 2 Pittsburg State, No. 9 Southern Arkansas, No. 12 Missouri Southern, No. 17 Central Oklahoma, and No. 22 Winona State.
Central Missouri currently holds a record of 31-15 overall with a conference record of 12-8 in MIAA play. The team is scheduled to host Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday, April 25 during Senior Day at Jennies Field at South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg.
