University of Missouri-St. Louis pitcher Brandon Johnson was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference’s Pitcher of the Week, according to an April 27 announcement from the league office.
The recognition highlights Johnson’s recent performance in a series of games, including seven shutout innings in his first game against Lincoln University. He allowed four hits and no walks while striking out ten batters, resulting in a strikeout rate of 12.9 per nine innings.
In addition to his pitching achievements, Johnson contributed offensively with four hits and six runs batted in during these contests. This is his first career Pitcher of the Week award. The last time a Missouri-St. Louis Tritons player received this honor was Dustin Hagens on April 20.
The Tritons recently played several games: they lost to Lindenwood but secured multiple wins against Lincoln University between April 24 and April 26.
Looking ahead, Missouri-St. Louis will begin a four-game series against Maryville at Weber Field starting Thursday, April 30.
